The wolf packs live in their own separate territories, and don't do much interacting with each other. They don't have to protect their own territories, because they won't survive long if they venture into another wolf pack's territory.
Four main packs.
The Pack of Water
The Pack of Fire
The Pack of Grass
The Pack of Sand
One lost pack, a pack from legends, assumed gone forever.
The Lost Pack of Snow
-They were destroyed by their own element-snow. Only a few remain, trapped in the caves of the mountains in their territory. The other packs think that they are all wiped out, and fear the snow territory.
They all have their own symbols. I will send pics if you like this idea.
The territories have to do with their elements.
(Pack of Water=An island in an ocean. They swim all the time, eat fish, and relax on the shores of a beach touching the other territories. Their territory touches the Pack of Sand territory and the Pack of Grass territory.
Pack of Fire=A large territory that is scorched with fire. They have a volcano in the middle of their territory, and lakes of lava are found in a few locations. They are able to stand the intense heat, and hunt creatures from other territories by baiting them into crossing the border. They touch the Pack of Sand territory, and a little bit of the Pack of Snow territory.
Pack of Grass= A large patch of sunny greenness, with fields of grass and a small forest where they like to sleep. They hunt anything that is on their territory, including deer and rabbits, and a threat to them is bears. There is also a small river going through their territory. Some of the other wolfs in other territories say that they live in paradise. They touch The Pack of Water territory, and the Pack of Snow territory.
Pack of Sand=A desert lying in the middle of all the territories, where the wolves work against the heat and drink water from the cactus growing in the territory. There is also a pit in the territory, which they try to avoid. They touch all the Packs but The Pack of Grass.
Lost Pack of Snow=A large mountainous territory, they are trapped in the caves of the mountains, which go deep into the mountains and provide a huge shelter. They haven't gone outside in years, slowly starving with few wolves surviving. They used to be able to withstand the cold and the strong wind, but and everlasting storm started, which they could not fight against. Their territory touches a small part of the Pack of Fire, The Pack of Grass, and the Pack of Sand.
None of the packs would be able to survive in each others territories. They don't have the same skills.
Positions are Alpha, Beta, Hunters, Mothers, Pups, and Omegas.
Alpha=Leader, chooses beta if he/she has no children, makes the decisions, helps the pack survive, chooses the hunter and omega that will train a pup.
Beta= Deputy/healer, next in line for Alpha, usually Alpha's son/daughter, trained from birth by Alpha, heals the pack when necessary
Hunters= Hunts for the pack, protects the pack, fights danger when necessary
Mothers= Mothers of young pups not old enough to train with Hunters, takes care of the pups, feeds the pups. Goes back to being a hunter/omega once the pup is old enough to train with a Hunter.
Pups= Young wolves in training to become hunters. From birth until strong enough, they are trained by omegas manners and life lessons. Once they are deemed strong enough from Alpha, they are paired with a hunter who will train them until they are big enough to become a hunter. If they are not big enough to be a hunter by 14 moons, they become an omega.
Omegas= Weaker wolves, not big or strong enough to be a hunter, but old enough to complete their training and start training young pups. The age in which the pup becomes an omega is 14 moons. They only hunt when there is not enough Hunters, and they never fight.
Scouts= Wolves trained to be able to run fast so they can last long in other wolves's territories; sent by alphas to send messages or material to other packs, or maybe to spy on other packs
If an Alpha has no children by 48 moons, he/she must choose a wolf pup to be Beta. The Alpha picks a mother who is expecting, usually the mother with the strongest mate, and then picks the wolf that is the biggest of those in the litter. The Alpha takes that pup in as it's own, treating that wolf as their own son/daughter.
For the lost pack, things are a little different.
There are no omegas. Everyone treats each other the same and work together to survive. The pups are trained at a later age, rather than from birth, because at birth, the wolves focus more on keeping the pups alive rather than training them. Other than that, everything is the same.
