(Can't think of a title.)
Mia ran off away from the tribe. She was tired of seeing her pack mates, tired of being in a group. There pack rarely separated, her own brother never left her side. He was younger than her, still being trained by another wolf, but Mia knew nothing would happen to him. Nothing ever happened in this rotting dessert.
Mia was a hunter, naturally skilled at this type of thing. So, off on her own, Mia decided to find some food. She lifted her nose into the air, trying to smell a food source, but she couldn't smell anything. Mia sighed. Why she was even trying she didn't know. It wasn't night yet, and even if it was it would still be too hot in the middle of summer for any creature to be out in the open. Mia looked down at her own body. She was skinny, all food they could find were given to the younger pups. Mia herself hadn't eaten for three days. The food given to them by the Pack of Grass was only enough to last them a few days.
Mia felt a growl stir up in her throat. Why do they get all the food? Why is it that the pack of grass never starved, never wondered where their next meal would be. Sure, they didn't have any special abilities, but out of all the packs, they were the ones who were living the easiest. Sure, Conan was kind in giving Mia's pack some of their food, but it wasn't much of a sacrifice. Mia was sure their stock-pile was overflowing with delicious rabbits and deer. Mia's mouth watered just thinking about it. She had never tasted deer. The animals native to their territory were no bigger than a rabbit. But Mia had heard that it was the most delicious animal ever tasted.
Well, there was a few animals native to their territory that were bigger than rabbits, but Mia hadn't seen them in moons. Her alpha had wondered if they had all died out. Mia hoped not. Maybe if she found one now, their pack wouldn't starve.
Mia looked back in the direction of their camp. She had been wandering around, all these thoughts in her head, and she had traveled farther than she thought. Maybe she should go back. But Mia was determined to find something, even if she had to search all day and night.
